Preventive and Interventional Orthodontic Treatment
Orthodontics and Aesthetics:
A multidisciplinary approach
Between September 19th and 21st, Braga hosted the XXVI SPO Congress. Orthodontic professionals from all over the country flocked to Minho to attend the lectures and masterclasses that marked the three days of the event
Around 15 national and international speakers attended the twenty-sixth congress of the Portuguese Orthodontic Society to discuss the present and future of a specialty that is constantly changing.
“Orthodontics and Aesthetics” was the central theme of the event, which once again focused on the importance of digital and multidisciplinary clinical practices for the evolution and reliability of patient treatments. Issues associated with the use of aligners rather than brackets, related to implantology or periodontology, as well as the approach to scleral anchorage systems marked the lectures that were presented on Friday and Saturday. On Thursday, the pre-congress day, Dr. Susana Palma Moya was responsible for the course, which focused on orthodontic protocols and treatments using the Invisalign System for adults and children.
At the end of the congress, the professionals were unanimous and peremptory in pointing to study and continuing training as indispensable guarantees of success for orthodontic practice, a discipline which, with digital technology, has broadened the potential of its treatments and which has health, function, stability and aesthetics as its pillars.
