The XXX Congress of the Portuguese Orthodontic Society<\/strong> was held between October 24 and 26 in the auditorium of the Super Bock Arena in Porto. Under the theme “Journey through Orthodontics”, this year’s congress, as in the previous year, combined “a high scientific program and an entertainment program that brought together more than 500 participants. <\/p>\n

For many colleagues, the XXX SPO Congress was the ideal moment to get together and socialize, and also for the younger ones to have the opportunity to debate with experts and opinion leaders.<\/p>\n

The panel of speakers included leading national and international orthodontists in their areas of research, specialization and teaching: \u00c1gata Carvalho, Alex Bayona, Andrea Bono, Bilal Koleilat, Carlos Faria, Constanza Quadrado, Francisco Coutinho, Elena Cervino, Enzo Pasciuti, Gemma Lopez, Helena Afonso Agostinho, Maria Cristina Teixeira, Martim Pedernera, Pedro Costa Monteiro, Pedro Dominguez, Ramon Mompell, Sofia Lopes, Soraia Oliveira and Teresa Pinho.<\/p>\n

The pre-congress featured two top-speakers who discussed how to increase the predictability of clinical treatments and how to treat very complex cases with the new tool of digital orthodontics and aligners.<\/p>\n

The congress discussed a wide range of topics with a focus on fixed orthodontics with brackets, functional orthodontics, different surgical approaches in orthodontic-surgical treatments, TMJ pathology in orthodontic treatments, facial harmonization in orthodontics, the problems of external root resorption and iatrogenic lesions and the importance of clinical diagnosis in the digital age.<\/p>\n

The President of the Society, Helena Agostinho, gave a speech in which she mentioned how, in two years, the current board has transformed the SPO with careful management that has borne fruit.<\/span><\/p>\n

The highlight of the opening ceremony was the tribute paid by the President, <\/b>Helena Afonso Agostinho, to her predecessors as Presidents of the Society and of the Congresses. A video of images from the thirty-two years of the SPO was shown for future reference. A commemorative gift was presented. <\/p>\n

Sponsors wishing to increase their presence in Portugal saw the XXX SPO Congress as an opportunity for exposure and affirmation. For the second year running, records were broken for the highest number of exhibitors and participants ever. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
